New highline world record set in Yangshuo, China
German athlete Alexander Schulz set a new Guinness World Records' record on December 8, 2014 by crossing a 375-meter-long rope strung between two limestone boulders in scenic Yangshuo, Guilin China.
The 23-year-old highline walker along with his co-workers from the slacklining company One Inch Dreams were searching for ages to find the right spot to break the current highline world record of 224m walked by Julian Mittermaier. In late October, they went to the Mecca Yangshuo and set up a fixed rope between two giant limestone rocks.
Schulz spent three days trying to walk the 375-meter-long rope while balancing 100 meters above ground. Strong winds and rain contributed to the difficulties by making the line heavy and soggy. After falling scores of times, He eventually succeeded during his final attempt, breaking the previous world record highline distance by 70 meters.
Yangshuo is world-renowned for its stunningly karst landscape and idyllic rural scenery. Not just for sightseeing, the scenic town has established itself as a paradise for outdoor activities. There are weeks of explorations, including hiking, biking, rock climbing, kayaking and much more. Definitely, Yangshuo is a worthwhile destination for any type of tour.
