Confucious Temple
Confucious Temple, also called Wen Temple was built to honor famous politician, thinker and educator Confucius in 1477. Confucious Temples can be found in many cities, such as, Qufu, Nanjing, Shanghai, etc, in China. One of the four famous temples is located in Gongcheng County; about two and a half hours drive from Guilin. It is the largest and most well-preserved temple in Guangxi province.
The main door of the temple is faced the south. It is said this main door would be kept closed until a local person was outstanding in the national examination. Other visitors have to enter from the doors in two wings, even the governors. They had to get off the horse at a fixed place outside to show the solemnity of the temple.
